Action Asia Publications

Action Asia wants to document the reflection, insights, and learning of its members' experiences for wider circulation. It aims to make publications that not only provide useful information to peace practitioners in Asia, but also promote the work of the network's members.

Transforming our woundedness for peace: VOICES FROM THE FRONTLINE

The third Action Asia Peacebuilders' Forum held in Siem Reap, Cambodia took as its central theme the wounds that are integral to living and working in conflict: these are often unspoken, suffered silently and may be destructive inhibitors, but they are also key drivers for action for change. Participants were invited to share their own experiences and reflect on how this had informed their personal journeys in peacebuilding under the title of Transforming our Woundedness for peace.

Examining RPP as a tool for evaluation: the Action Asia experience

Action Asia Leaders met together for two days in Sri Lanka to reflect on their experience with RPP (Reflecting on Peace Practice) over the past two years. There was a particular focus on the use of RPP for program evaluations.  The discussion also raised concerns and questions about RPP based evaluations, related to the role of the outside evaluators, the evaluation context, and the challenges of building an inclusive process. This briefing paper is ACTION Asia's contribution to the larger process of learning and reflection taking place in the region and around the world.

Action Global Publications

Towards Another World

This collaboration shows the work of the global network ACTION for Conflict Transformation in two separate but interconnected parts of the world. The ACTION global strategy is to allow the regions of ACTION to lead the growth of the global movement. In different regional centres, ACTION will grow in accordance with the conditions it faces and the local strategies it uses. Part of this will include:

-Linking to and helping to develop globally informed opportunities for sharing and learning
-Amplifying the needs and concerns of people from within the regions, and
-Adding strategic opportunities for transforming local conflicts

In this way the global aspect of ACTION has the potential to grow stronger than if we had a single institution responsible for maintaining a global presence. Two of these centres are based in Guatemala and South Africa. They have led the way in the production of this book - a collaborative effort between peacebuilders in Latin America and Africa.
